The Queen Mary’s Dark Harbor Media Preview

4 Oct

On October 3, 2013 I was fortunate enough to take part in The Queen Mary’s Media Preview. After the team and I wrapped up check in some of us braved the mazes. Little did I know that over the course of the month I’d have to go through each of these mazes 10 more times. Scary every single time!

Ed Roland & The Sweet Tea Project at The Roxy

13 Sep

Caught Ed Roland & The Sweet Tea Project the other night at The Roxy and I was blown away! This band has such a passion for the music their making and it is beyond refreshing to see that kind of passion from such seasoned musicians. This night also happened to be Heather’s birthday so we grabbed some drinks before the show and had a great night overall.

If you’ve yet to check out this band I highly recommend. Not to mention they’ve been touring throughout the US so you’re bound to see them anywhere!

Drinks for the birthday girl!

KROQ Coachella House

22 Apr

I was fortunate enough to get an invite for the KROQ Coachella House weekend 2. I texted my sister Friday morning and within the hour we were packed up and ready to head out to Indio. Performances that day included Portugal. The Man, Tegan and Sara and my loves – Franz Ferdinand. Shortly after performances ended we packed up once again and hit Morongo Casino on the way home…up $50! Yeehaw, what a great way to start the weekend.

I dont’t know if you can tell in the photo but I am close enough to touch the lead singer – Alex Kapranos.

2013 OC Music Awards

15 Mar

March 9th, 2013 marked the 12th annual OC Music Awards event at the City National Grove of Anaheim. I feel so fortunate to have been able to participate in this event for the third year in a row and even more thankful that my role this year was managing the social media page during the event! I was post-up in the VIP area outside watching the show streaming live on my laptop and answering any questions that came through.

Check out some of my favorite photos from the event below.

Bad Religion Q & A at Yost

8 Mar

Monday night I was fortunate enough to attend a Q & A with Bad Religion’s Jay Bentley and Brian Baker during the Red Bull Independent Assembly. I had big plans to stay for the first segment and head home to catch up on work but before I knew it I’d stayed for the entire thing. I found Jay and Brian not only hilarious but also very informative, especially for someone like me who is trying to help get a band out of the garage (or comic book store) and up on stage!

I highly recommend going to something like this if you can, especially if you are looking to get into “the biz.” Bad Religion has a great DIY attitude and I felt so motivated when I left.

Maybe the worst iPhone photo I’ve ever taken but who cares I was so close to the stage!

OC Music Awards Showcase Series

3 Mar

OC Music Awards kicked off their 2013 Showcase Series season January 8th at Detroit Bar. The events carried on for 7 weeks in a row until the Finals February 26th at House of Blues in Anaheim. It was great having something fun and local to do every Tuesday night in January and February and I’m a little sad it’s already over! I took a photo at each of the events but my absolute favorite is below from the Showcase at Segerstrom Center.

A Night of Beauty at Lotus Salon and Spa

22 Feb

A “Night of Beauty” could not have been a better name for the event at Lotus Salon and Spa on February 20th. I was amazed to see what the ladies of Lotus could do with a blow dryer and a round brush. Flip through this Facebook album snagged from The ACE Agency’s Facebook.

Burke Williams is my personal Heaven

18 Feb

I was blessed with the opportunity to visit the Burke Williams Spa in Orange. I decided to go with the 50-minute Pure Relaxation Massage with a Dot.Com Enhancement. I opted for the Dot.Com Enhancement because I work hunched over a computer 50+ hours a week and wanted to really work out that extra tension in my back. I arrived an hour or so before my appointment to relish in all of the amenities that come with a treatment at Burke Williams. I soaked in the whirlpool, spent some time in the steam room and ended it all by sweating out some toxins in the sauna. By the time I was done with my routine it was time for my appointment. My therapist, Toni, took the time to walk me through the Dot.Com Enhancement before she began. The Dot.Com enhancement was very technical but I felt the stress leaving my back almost immediately. After Toni completed the enhancement portion of my massage she moved onto the “pure relaxation” which nearly sent me into a bliss-induced coma. Once my massage was over, Toni stepped out of the room as I slipped into my now delightfully warm robe and sipped on their signature water. I met Toni in the hallway who recommended I see her again for an 80-minute deep tissue massage and I plan on taking her up on that offer as soon as possible.

After your massage you can continue to use the above mentioned amenities, take a shower, use the vanity, or even step into the quiet room for a post-treatment detox of pure silence. My only real recommendation is that you look at yourself in the mirror before heading back out into the lobby – I hadn’t realized that after changing back into my clothes directly after massage that my hair was a complete mess and my makeup was running! I looked at it as a sure sign of a relaxing time 😉

Back to blonde!

20 Jan

Yesterday I popped into Lotus Salon and Spa to transform my hair from red to blonde (not an easy task!). Thankfully I was under the skilled hands of Stylist Bernadette Ratigan who took some extra time into my transformation. She pulled out her big book of colors and walked me through what she had planned for my hair. Once my hair was finally dry I looked in the mirror and was floored – no one has been able to get my hair to jump from red back to blonde in just one sitting. Check out my transition below. I’m in love!
